Inverness

River NessInverness is known as the capital of the Highlands. It is an ideal place to use as a base for touring the beautiful Highlands of Scotland. It is a warm, welcoming city which has something for everyone including shopping centres and markets and many fine restaurants.

By the 18th century Inverness was a bustling city with many wealthy merchants settling on the outskirts of the town and in 1822 the Caledonian Canal was completed linking Inverness to the west coast of Scotland. The city was well known for it's concerts and theatrical performances.

There are many things to see and do near Inverness including Loch Ness, Fort George, dolphin watching on the Moray coast, Culloden battlefield, walking and climbing, whisky trails, castles, Cairngorm National Park and skiing.
